 For centuries, Wudang Mountain has been China's premiere center for Taoist internal martial arts training, including Tai Chi, swordsmanship and Qigong. Wudang Mountain is the legendary birthplace or Tai Chi Chuan, said to have been created there by the Taoist hermit Zhang Sanfeng in the 13th century.In July 2006, 32 Taoist priests from Mt. Wudang made an historic trip to Austin, Texas. While there, the Wudang priests (men and women ranging in age from 19-80) performed their world famous martial arts (kung fu or wushu), qigong, and Taoist ceremonial music, complete with swords, costumes, and traditional Chinese instruments.
